Barbarella
Volume One: Red Hot Gospel
For Barbarella Volume 1: Red Hot Gospel, published by Dynamite Comics, I designed the logo, logo variants, trade dress, book cover, and book interiors. The overall brief was to capture the combination of sensuality, camp, and the comedic side of science fiction that is Barbarella, while taking into consideration the original comic and the licensing limitations stemming from the film.

My Approach
I drew heavily from the vibrant graphic styles of the late 1960s, infusing the design with psychedelic op art and intense colors. I chose a typeface reminiscent of the period's poster art (Mobley) for the logo.
Reflections
As both a designer and longtime fan of Barbarella and 60s design, this project was especially enjoyable. It gave me the chance to channel my passions into a design that encapsulated the character’s spirit.
